My typical day

So, motherhood is like that. :)

My typical day begins with breakfast, then Jo's feed, followed by taking her for a walk to Grandma's with maid to bring Grandma to my place. Then bathe Jo, get ready for lunch etc. Daily, it's rather cool to organise the home, grow Jo, make sure that there's enough bread, milo, tomoto or peanut butter to last the day.

So, there's where the overseer anointing came in handy!

I now know what vegetables can last a week in my fridge, what can't so if I buy groceries weekly, we'll cook those that cannot last first. I now know how to cook Vinegar Pork Leg, Jiang Cong Beef, Black Sauce Pork, Black Fungus Chicken etc. Hee, even Grandma commented that I trained my maid well and her cooking is good :)

It's been 2.5 months since I'm launched into motherhood. And though in the beginning it's been a super steep learning curve, now it's rather fun!

Thank God for seeing me through this, and alot of encouragement from Hubba and family!

Inspired

Was so inspired after reading my ex-spiritual mother's blog who has 2 daughters now.. (1 was born 3 days after Jo! We actually met at the hospital!) She's so faithful to update her 2 girls' milestones of growth!

So I decided to update- Jo is roughly 6 kg now, and around 59cm long. According to her Great-grandmother, she has super big feet and hands, an indication that she will be a tall girl (Like her 1.8m tall Dad)

This is now week 10, and Praise God, she sleeps now from 12am to 7am. (Though Mummy still wakes up every 3hour to pump and store precious breast milk for her!) Every morning after her feed, we bring her out for walk at the park, or walk to her Great Grand mother's place to fetch her to our place. :)

Which Hair Suits me most?

Which hair suits me most? Honestly, my personal fave is Straight Hair with short fringe. My husband likes the Curly hair with short fringe though... Currently, I am having Straight Hair with Long Fringe. Should I cut my fringe? Hee... Cannot decide :)

2nd Year Wedding Anniversary

2 years ago, I walked down the aisle and gave my vows to my husband, to be his helper, friend.. till death do us part.

It was done before the Lord, in front of the community. I still remember the day, the moment...

Time flies. We have gone through so much in 2 years. Alot of testing, alot of fights, alot of making up.. alot of learning and understanding each other... alot of funny memories.. fighting battles in ministry together.. and now, a new addition to our family - Johanna.

God, you are good. Thank you :)

On this day, we went to an award winning Japanese restaurant. My husband ordered the chef special that included things like Sperm of Whale, Sea Urchin, Melt in your mouth Tuna and Octopus. It was really a great meal (for him lah!). For me, because I'm still breast feeding, can only eat Ten Ju (Tempura with Rice).. Yes.. boring!

After that meal, we went around Orchard to shop, but ended up buying word cards for Johanna. (Ha ha!)

Here's my husband present for me! Hee...

Standing on my Feet

Thank God for going to church yester. On the way there, I started to tear as I told the Lord "God, I'm here." It was a good time for me - to worship the Lord as who I am.. not as a mother, wife etc. :)

The best part was getting to talk with other Guo Lai Ren mothers. As we talked, thoughts that there was something wrong with me dispelled. I really now realise that what I felt and thought through was very normal!

Today was a breakthough day. Instead of waiting for my darling to come back, I took Babe and Maid to NTUC to buy the week's groceries. Felt so good to be able to do something confidently.

Slowly, by God's grace and love from the family.. I am standing on my feet.

Importance of Family

Of late, I've been keeping closer touch with my Family and realised the importance of it.

For very long, I was this independent and lead my own life person (being very involved in church), now realise that Family support is so important when you go through transitions in life.

Both Spiritual and Physical Family.

This is really the year of Sabbath. God is healing very deep hurts in me.

I need my Family. Am blessed to have them.

Johanna really brings forth healing... at least in my life.

God is working in me. :)

Johanna's Full Month!

Johanna's full month should be 8th October, but we decided to celebrate on the Sunday, 6th October for convenience.

By superstition, you actually need to shave off all the hair during full month as it's considered something "dirty". Then, blessings flowed from the elders to the child. We decided not to shave off all her hair, but allow my parents to cut some and bless her in the process of the cutting. (I take off the superstitious element and allow the traditions and blessing). Grandpa blessed her with KUAI GAO ZHANG DA (Grow up well, healthy and quick) and Grandma blessed her that she will be CHONG MING LING LI (Smart and win the favour of Man.)

As parents, we blessed her that she will know God lah. And know Him intimately. :)

Here are photos of the day!

Motherhood and hormones

Was browsing online and realised alot of mothers writing on their hormones and how they felt through the day. How they swing from happy to werewolf state and how they long to be able to be up and running on their life again.

Makes me realised I am normal. Cool. Whatever I'm going through is normal. Phew.

Motherhood- Changes

Clock struck midnight on 8 Sep. Together with my husband, we ensured we took everything, loaded it in the car, and drove to Thomson for Prata. Felt like the "Last Supper" as we ate Prata, Mee Goreng, Teh Halia and Milo Dinosaur.

Then at 1am, we walked into Mount Alvernia Delivery Ward and requested for Baby to be induced, as directed by the Doctor. It has been weeks of prayer and fighting because the water level was dropping, and at every visit, should the water level be low, either Doc will immediately induce baby or hang on another day and pray that baby come naturally. Wanting only a natural delivery, daily, it was a battle to claim God's goodness and be firm. It finally came down to this (2.5 weeks), as I walked into the Delivery Ward.

After going in, the mid-wife checked me, and realised that I was dilated 1cm (You need 10cm to give birth naturally). She then inserted a pill (Process called induction) such that the cervix will ripen to 10cm. Then, it was the wait.

Around 1.30am, I was asked to settle down to sleep in the delivery ward. My darling husband was given an armchair and asked to sleep too. I drifted in and out of sleep, calm and composed. And at around 4am, I finally went into deep sleep. But around 5am, the contractions started. I woke up, cleared my bowels (By then, the pain was so intense Johanna could have been born in the toilet bowl man!) After clearing the bowels, when I struggled to stand and wash my hands, water bag broke and blood showed.

That's when we told the mid-wife who finally checked, and said "Wa! So fast ah! You're into labour already! Call doctor!"

The next thing I know, I asked for epidural (Which the nurses tell me "Too late.. no pain-killers for you, only laughing gas.") Btw, this was what I prayed for.. be careful what you ask for. :) The nurses, with my husband, started to guide me how to breathe and how to position.

My husband was the best. He stood next to me, hold me, told me assuringly that all will be over soon. Whenever I needed the laughing gas, he would hold it for me as I was too feeble to even hold the gas.

Then, like the sound of salvation, the nicest thing was heard "Doctor is here!". Within seconds, Doctor told me to push, and with one single push "Wala!" Johanna is born!

All over in 5 minutes less of 2 hours. Exactly what I prayed.

God be glorified! Johanna was born exactly how we asked of the Lord. He does listen to prayers!

Year of New Lives 2008

We started the new year knowing of my pregnancy.. as well as my sister in law's pregnancy. It's interesting that in the year of Sabbath, the Lord led us into 2008 with news of having a new life/ addition coming into our little family!

The journey was not easy and interesting. 1st 5 months was tough, only way of going through was with the strength of the Lord. Worship and His word was the only thing that sustained me. Of course, I thank God for my husband. I could not imagine how the entire time will be if he wasn't there to pray, sustain and be my support through this.

There were anxieties and worries, mixed with joy and greater consciousness of many things in life. E.g: In the past, I could eat anything I wanted, now there was a consciousness of only eating what was good for baby.. as well as what my body will not repel. This made me anxious at first, subsequently humble, and thankful to the Lord for many things and abilities He has blessed me with. I learnt to slow down and not take things for granted.

For ministry, it made me think more about G12, and how important it was to quickly raise my 1st level of leadership amongst my 12. I started to layer and create my platforms for my 1 st level of leadership to start leading, with supervision. All these were done to ensure that the Lord's work continues when baby comes and I enter a new phase of life.

I am thankful to the Lord for many teachings for now. Ben & Glenn's parenting class (not Ben and Jerry!) was definitely a blessing and a started us thinking of long-term sustainance and service for the Lord. The values, the desires as well as handles are all things that we want to, in time, pass them down to our 12 (24) such that they too, can serve a life-time through different seasons and transitions of their life.

This year of Sabbath, thus far, has really been a year of rest, refreshing and re-invention in the Lord!
